Young Ghanaian activist and social commentator Richard Baiden believes the lifting of the lockdown in some part of the economy is a mixed blessing to Ghanaians. He believes the lifting of the ban is going to help the many Ghanaians who are found in the informal sector of the economy.
Speaking to blogger Samuel, Mr Baiden said
People are in the house suffering. Many more have already lost their jobs. Business enterprises are collapsing every day. The restriction on movement would have caused many more Ghanaians to lose their jobs if not lifted.
On the other hand, Mr Baiden believes the lifting of the lockdown could cause a serious outbreak of the disease if social distancing and other important protocols are not observed in our homes, workplaces markets and others.
The young Ghanaian activist popularly known as sir Richie continued by saying Ghanaians are people who can surprise you in any day. Give them an inch and they will add another to it. He therefore appealed to Ghanaians to go by the directives given by the president to help fight the disease.
He concluded by suggesting to the government to educate the public more on the disease especially in the villages as well as having more testing centers in the country to help fight the disease.
